Argentina chapter to host the 2019 global Zday Event
After the success of the 10th Annual Zeitgeist Movement event in Frankfurt, Germany it was decided to have the next global Zday in Latin America. The passionate Paulina took up the torch and after some searching the Argentina chapter has put up their hand to run the next global Zday with help from other chapters such as Chile. For those that are interested you can contact Paulina by emailing konstancja.tzm@gmail.com. We are also working on a Zday document for helping those who want to run a Zday event get some ideas of what has happened with previous ones.

Template for Chapter Sites
In more techy news there's a request for anyone who's interested in web design and development to help out with a Jekyll based TZM chapter theme. The project, run by Juuso is designed to make it easier for TZM chapters to create a simple website. The idea is to make it easy to update the theme and have people use Github pages and similar version control systems to easily add content whilst sharing designs.

It's still under active development with an initial example page available. The Github repo is https://github.com/TZMCommunity/rbe-edu
For those that don't know Jekyll is a system for converting plain text into HTML websites.
Because the output is straight HTML5 and it doesn't need a database it can very easily be hosted with minimal requirements.
Contact the Finland coordinator juuso@vilmunen.net for more information.

Andrew Drummond, A Picture of Transition | ZDay 2018 London
"A Picture of Transition" looks at several looming economic crises in energy and resource overshoot, challenges that we will face in transitioning to a renewably-powered circular economy, social adaptations that need to be made, how they can improve quality of life, and with case studies, shows how you can get this ball rolling in your local community, making almost anything from almost nothing.

Zeitgeist (DOT) Earth
The Zeitgeist.earth project is introducing a number of digital tools and services for communities involving technology, hacking and open source culture, as well as art and storytelling.
Zeitgeist Moving Forward opens with perhaps one of the most appropriate quotes to be highlighted in our generation: "In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it." — Ernst Fischer

In this spirit, while perhaps not obvious to everyone, it could be noted that memetic associations with the Japanese artform anime, currently underpin many of the Internet's subcultures and younger generations. The Zeitgeist .earth project is taking that spirit and has been hard at work creating an image board and wiki, are hosting the high capacity Mumble server mentioned as a TeamSpeak replacement. They are also running project management tools like taiga.io and gitea a self hosted equivalent to github to help developers create the digital tools needs to transition to an RBE.

The team has been hard at work and the professional graphic designers have been redesigning the Zeitgeist logo and are working on the image board design with both light and dark themes. However the project is still under heavy development.

Zeitgeist Survey Project
Want a project to sink your teeth into and you aren't good at web development but are interested in psychology?
The Zeitgeist survey project needs some help. The idea is to create a survey which can work out what the global Zeitgeist is. What is the general population's intellectual, cultural and moral spirit of the time, across the world? By repeating the survey every year we can see what direction it is headed in as a feedback mechanism.

Firstly we need help creating the survey itself. Working out the questions and how they'll be used. Once the survey is created we'll need the help of all ZM chapters to get the 16,000+ randomly distributed survey responses needed to have an adequate result. Hopefully we can then do a world wide poll every year and see which the places are most ripe for transition.

The briefing document is here and you can email survey@zeitgeist-info.com if you'd like to contribute.

Free World One
Free World One is the new, hybrid for-profit initiative that was launched by Colin Turner at Z-Day 2018. FW1 is a company designed to leverage the existing market system to promote RBE ambitions through monetizing various activities in education, awareness and prototyping. Profits raised by the company's ethical and sustainable projects will then be used to support other projects.

Colin, who founded The Free World Charter in 2011, is doing a great job at getting support and the company is now well into its first round of funding with over 270 investors. They are about to embark on an exciting educational project called LifeGames which promotes skills and traits like compassion, cooperation and critical thinking through fun classroom activities for kids. Books and apps of the LifeGames project are expected to go on sale to schools next Spring.

10th Annual Zeitgeist Day, Frankfurt Germany, April 7th 2018

Zday 2018
 The 10th Annual Zeitgeist Day | April 7th 2018 |  Frankfurt, Germany

www.thezeitgeistmovement.com
Recognized as the largest grassroots social movement in the world with official chapters in over 60 countries, The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM) announces its 10th annual "Zeitgeist Day".

Also known as "ZDay" for short, this global awareness campaign features a main event with prominent Movement speakers and guests from all over the world, while working in solidarity with other parallel events occurring during the same day and/or weekend. The gesture is one of global unity towards social betterment and a more humane society.

Prior main events have been documented by news agencies, including the New York Times and Huffington Post in America, with attendees and members coming from all around the world to discuss the state of society and how to improve it in a real way. Contrary to most conferences of this nature, TZM does not see needed social changes coming from the political or economic establishment. It sees it coming from the public itself through grassroots reform since TZM views the core problems in the world as actually originating from the very foundation of the eco-politico establishment to begin with. The problem is the system itself, in the view of The Movement.

The 2018 main event will be held in Frankfurt, Germany at the "Kunstverein Familie Montez" on April 7th, 2018, 15:00 - 20:00 CET. The 2018 symposium will address the growing severity of emerging social destabilization, war, income inequality, slavery, dramatic environmental failures and, in short, overall public health and societal crises playing out on the Earth's stage today.
Sincerely,
TZM

TZM Update | Jan, 2017

CrowdFunding Initiative

Dear TZM Community,
The time has come to not only upgrade TZM's web infrastructure for our Global Websites but also work to create a new robust Chapter Network. Upgrades to occur feature better integration of our ideas/efforts, user friendly Chapter web hosting/admin, and more streamlined information/content.
As we know well today, to do anything costs money and a crowdfunding campaign has been created for this asking for only $3500, to allow the global community to collectively support and make possible this important new development for the movement; further connecting us as a global community, connecting our ideas, and expanding this direction toward a more sustainable future.
For more information and to make a contribution visit the official Crowd Funding Campaign page here: https://chuffed.org/project/tzm-web-infrastructure.

TZM Global, 501c3 Non-Profit Status - Support

header splash
TZM Update | June 2016

The Zeitgeist Movement, 501c3 Non-Profit Status

Friends,
As of June 2016, The Zeitgeist Movement is now an official 501c3 non-profit, tax exempt entity. As has been suggested for years, this new aspects of TZM has been created to assist core administrative tasks and costs, allowing for greater project development.
In this video, Peter Joseph details the nature of the NPO and its purpose.
After 8 years of conducting core, global programs without any external financial support or solicitation of donations, the growth of TZM and its technical needs have now created limitations that we can only overcome through access to more resources and time. Funding will assist this improved progress.
Needless to say, this has been a difficult decision given the values of TZM. However, this tax exempt status gives TZM much more flexibility, while those who do wish to support TZM's mission through financial contribution will be enabling a new level of performance and efficiency in operations. All donations are tax deductible (in the U.S.) and the legally required board of directors will report the allocation of funds at the end of each year for transparency. This board of directors is currently comprised of core, longstanding members of the Los Angeles, California Chapter. The board itself are volunteers and do not take a salary.
It is time TZM steps up to a new level of influence and activity. Please review Peter Joseph's video above and if there are any questions, please email us.
If you wish to support TZM now with a contribution, please visit:

Thank you in advance for your support.

TZM Update, August 2015 - ZMedia Festival 2015

TZM Update | August, 2015

Zeitgeist Media Festival Day 2015 - Australia
Recognizing the power of art and media to help change the world, the annual "Zeitgeist Media Festival" (ZMF) bridges the artistic & activist communities in the hope to inspire change. It recognizes that needed changes in the structural/economic workings of society can only manifest in tandem with a personal/social transformation of values in each of us. While intellectual knowledge serves its role of showing the path, many in the world follow their feelings and comforts - not new knowledge.
Art is considered the most powerful tool we have to bridge these levels of awareness and inspire action for change. Keeping the gesture of the long history of influential artistic creators whose vision have changed our world for the better, The ZMF works to unify the world through this expression with the basic ethos that we are one species sharing one planet and it is time the world learns to work together for the betterment of all before it is too late.
The Inaugural Event for the now annual Zeitgeist Media Festival occurred in 2011 with over 40 events occurring across 20 countries with unique presenters and performances by Charles FleischerLili Haydn and others.  In 2012, the Los Angeles Main Event increased in recognition with notable participants including Tim KringRutger HauerMarianne Williamson, Cofield Mundi,  and many more.

TZM 2.0 Update
As noted prior, large changes are in the works for the Administration of TZM. Something we can call TZM 2.0.

The establishment of a US-based 501c3 Non-Profit to help with global projects, press relations and improved administration/expansion of the online networks, including assisting Chapters in basic ways is expected to be done by the end of September. A crowd funding campaign will then commence to help fund the larger changes in the online and chapter communication infrastructure.

For over 6 years, The Zeitgeist Movement has worked with no donations, with only a small number of people taking on the financial burden of operation. Today, we have reached the limits of what this kind of structure can do for The Movement when it comes to large scale projects and gaining media attention.

If we expect to have a future in this turbulent time, we now need to harness more traditional support, removing the burden that has slowed all TZM operations and alleviating the financial pressures that fallen on very few people. While the volunteer structure remains for the majority of actions, a seasoned, unpaid board of the most experienced TZM members will work to help allocate donations in a 100% transparent way to global functions, specifically focusing on gaining media attention and press.

Today, our greatest problem is the pollution of our image and a gross misunderstanding of what TZM is doing and about. This is going to change. More on this development will be presented in the next few weeks, along with a full FAQ and interaction with those interested in discussing ways to best allocate funds.
